Information on the listening comprehension and written examination components

Checking identity

The examinee is supposed to provide evidence of his or her identity prior to the beginning of the examination component by means of a document with a photograph enabling safe identification, which could be:

  • an identity card
  • a passport or
  • a new type driving licence.

By producing a student ID or an identification document different from the ones above, the examinee cannot start the examination

During the entire examination process (prior to every examination part), the examinee is supposed to identify him- or herself with the document the number of which he or she has indicated on the registration form. If the examinee produces a different document – which, similarly, cannot be of a type different from three document types above –, he or she can take the examination only after filling in a declaration sheet. On the declaration sheet the numbers of both the document originally indicated and the one brought to the examination with the purpose of identification must be specified. By signing the declaration the examinee acknowledges that the identification document brought to the examination is in effect his or her property and accepts that the Examination Centre is obliged to advise him or her on his or her examination results only if he or she produces the document brought to the examination or a certificate of document replacement, in person, in the Examination Centre, or sends the copies thereof to the Examination Centre by post or fax.

Late-coming

Should the examinee arrive with a delay, if the examination has already begun, he or she cannot enter the examination room. In such a case he or she can participate in the remaining examination components pertaining to the chosen examination type, but he or she ought to account for the ways in which the examination not taken owing to late-coming will impact the results. (For instance, if the examinee has registered for the oral examination type, and comes late for the listening comprehension examination, he or she can choose to participate in the oral examination. However, despite a potential pass, he or she cannot receive a certificate because of the missing scores for the listening comprehension examination part.)

At the examination

During the examination, one must follow the instructions of the invigilators, who give a detailed orientation on the rules of taking the examination prior to the examination.

Completion and correction of the tasks take place anonymously. Identification by name occurs at a later point, with the help of the Identification Sheet (Azonosító lap) filled in before the examination. The examinee, therefore, should not put his or her name on the examination tasks, but an appropriate bar code handed over after identification must be stuck in spots designated for this purpose on the Identification Sheet and the answer sheets. Should the examinee’s name appear either on one of the task sheets or on one of the answer sheets, or should the examinee not fix the bar codes (or if he or she fixes them in the wrong place), the examination will be void.

The tasks of the written and listening comprehension examination components must be completed with a black or blue ink pen. Examination tasks completed with a pencil or a different ink pen will not be assessed.

Answers must be entered on the answer sheet. As only answers on the answer sheet will be evaluated during the correction of tasks, those written on the task sheet will not be taken into consideration. The examinee is not allowed to use any paper of his or her own while completing tasks.

For the completion of certain tasks one may use dictionaries, which may, however, be a general (i.e. not specialised) printed mono- or bilingual dictionary, free from any hand-written notes. Apart from it, the examinee cannot use any other supplementary materials. His or her mobile telephone must be switched off before the examination; on his or her desk only the tools and materials necessary for taking the examination and some food and drinks may be left. Inside the desk, however, there should be nothing left; the examinee is not supposed to seek or offer help to fellow examinees.

No task- or answer sheet may be taken out of the examination room.
